Students were divided into home groups of three. Each member became an expert on one aspect of the Civil War: transportation, education, or communication. In expert groups, students researched how their aspect changed during and after the Civil War. After research was completed, the students returned to their homegroups and shared their information. For accountability, students were responsible to complete the recording page for each aspect of the Civil War.

Pairs were assigned one amendment of the Bill of Rights. Using the websites below, students researched their amendment. They ten rewrote the amendment in their own words and posted it to the class padlet. Early finishers were assigned a section of the Constitution to research and rewrite.

Students will be divided into home groups of three. In each home group, there will be an expert on the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch. Students will research on their branch in expert groups, filling out the recording page. They will then complete a storyboard to plan for their part of the home groups final presenation. As a home group, students will design either a poster, powerpoint presentation, or prezi. Each student will be graded on their portion of the presentation.
